PTC-CSJ Initiates My Ship My World 2024
September 20, 2024
Last September 6, PTC Founder and IMO Goodwill Ambassador Carlos C. Salinas, together with PTC-CSJ Foundation’s President Mrs. Carla S. Limcaoco and Executive Director Ms. Flory A. Tabio, hosted a meeting for officials from the Department of Education’s Schools Division Offices (SDOs) of Malabon, Muntinlupa and Quezon City. The meeting served to give the DepEd officials an overview of the My Ship My World (MSMW) Program and invite them to participate in MSMW 2024.

MSMW aims to introduce shipping and its benefits to young students through weekly email exchanges between Ship Officers and partner-teachers. The teachers integrate shipping-related concepts in their weekly lesson plans for Math, Science, English and Social Studies. In the end, MSMW hopes to encourage the students to pursue a maritime career.

Upon learning about MSMW’s experiences and success over the past seven years, all three DepEd SDOs readily agreed to support MSMW 2024 by implementing it with their Grade 6 teachers and students.

Subsequently, PTC-CSJ organized planning workshops with 84 and 90 teachers from DepEd – Quezon City and Muntinlupa, respectively, on September 18 and 19. The teachers represented a total of 33 public elementary schools and will implement MSMW with approximately 20,000 Grade 6 students. A planning workshop with DepEd – Malabon teachers is scheduled on September 25.

Thus far, 11 PTC Principals have committed a total of 45 Ships and their Masters. PTC-CSJ still hopes to welcome more Ships to join MSMW 2024 which will run for four weeks from Sept. 30 – October 25, 2024.
