PTC-CSJ and MMCL Welcome New Maritime Scholars

PTC-CSJ Foundation and Mapua Malayan Colleges Laguna (MMCL) welcomed ten new maritime scholars under the Foundation’s Nurturing Future Seafarers (NFS) – Batch 3 Project. The ceremonial MOA signing, held on September 5, 2023 at MMCL in Cabuyao, Laguna, was witnessed by the scholars’ parents.

The new scholars included eight B.S. Marine Transportation (MT) and two B.S. Marine Engineering (MARE) students:
  1. Andres, Jiro – BS MT
  2. Balila, Christian Marr – BS MT
  3. Belling, Michelle – BS MT
  4. Benipayo, John Roland Edilbert – BS MARE
  5. Escudero, Earl Christian – BS MT
  6. Garbin, Michael Angelo – BS MT
  7. Guino, Paolo – BS MT
  8. Orfano, Nervin – BS MT
  9. Salazar, Jhan Lorenz – BS MARE
  10. Tapia, Shawn Austin – BS MT
All scholars are on their second year at MMCL’s Mapua-PTC College of Maritime Education and Training (Mapua-PTC CMET) and will receive full scholarship support on their 2nd to 4th year studies.

Also welcomed during the ceremony was third year BS MARE student, Franches Dianne Migallos, who has been added as a new scholar under the Foundation’s earlier project, NFS-Batch 2.

In her keynote message, PTC-CSJ Foundation’s President, Mrs. Carla S. Limcaoco, said, “It is the mission of the Foundation to promote education, not just to empower those who are marginalized, but also to uplift the knowledge and appreciation of the maritime industry. The NFS Project generously supported by TK Foundation is the means by which we accomplish these objectives. You are now part of this mission, our dear scholars. Whenever you are faced with challenges, please remember the bigger picture and how each of you are important and needed by the shipping industry. You are living your lives not just for yourselves but for the greater good of humanity.”

Also present at the ceremony were MMCL Officials led by its President and CEO Dr. Dodjie S. Maestrecampo, EVP and COO Engr. Anthony Hilmer S. Medrano, VP for Academic Affairs Engr. Maribel G. Songsong, AVP for External Relations and Global Linkages James Ronald O. Mesina, Student Affairs Director Angelito D. Platino, and Mapua-PTC CMET Dean Armando A. Ternida.

PTC-CSJ’s NFS Batch 2 and Batch 3 Projects are supported by grants from Orange County Community Foundation thru the TK Foundation Fund.
