PTC-CSJ and WWF Implement ESD 2023 Program
PTC-CSJ and WWF-Philippines continued to implement the Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) Program in 2023 as part of their annual partnership.
The ESD 2023 Program focused on Water, Sanitation and Hygiene as the overall theme which supports the Department of Education’s WINS (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene in Schools) Program. In particular, the focus on water emphasized its links to climate change and biodiversity degradation.
In partnership with DepEd-Muntinlupa, Teachers’ Training was conducted on March 15-16 with almost 100 new teachers from 20 public elementary schools. As part of the workshop, the teachers presented how environmental topics can be integrated in various Subjects.
The WWF team also conducted ESD sessions with Grades 5 and 6 learners of PTC-CSJ’s 12 partner-Schools in Muntinlupa on March 21-23 and March 28-30. The first session focused on Water and Sanitation, while a Culminating session focused on Hygiene.
A final activity lined up in ESD 2023 is Demo Teaching by 12 selected teachers from the 12 partner-Schools to be held on April 25-28. The 12 demo teachers will share how they are able to integrate lessons on water, sanitation and hygiene in their respective curricular Subjects and classroom activities.
PTC-CSJ and WWF, together with DepEd-Muntinlupa Supervisors, will evaluate the demo teachers who will earn credits from the activity. Over the years that the ESD Program has been implemented, demo teachers have appreciated the credits as these are used when they are evaluated for promotion purposes.
