80 Kindergarten teachers from Muntinlupa's public schools gathered for the training workshop at Tunasan National High School.

PTC-CSJ and Synergeia Foundation, in cooperation with the DepEd – Schools Division Office of Muntinlupa City, organized a specialized training workshop titled “Program for the Development of Kindergarten Compendium of Play-based Learning Activities and Other Developmentally Appropriate Practices.”

The workshop, held on May 5, 2024, was attended by 80 Kindergarten teachers representing all 20 public elementary schools in the city. According to Dr. Marissa Andanza, DepEd-Muntinlupa’s Education Program Supervisor, the session aimed to equip educators with pedagogical strategies that integrate play-based learning and developmentally appropriate approaches for early learners.

The training was facilitated by Prof. Shirley Equipado, an Early Childhood Education specialist. She discussed the key principles of "guided play," highlighting benefits such as improved critical thinking, creativity, and social-emotional development. During the session, participants used the DepEd MATATAG curriculum to design interactive activities for their classrooms.

Prof. Equipado reminded teachers to maintain a clear "learning goal" while subtly guiding students during play sessions. Following the workshop, each participant is tasked with developing four play-based activities to be compiled into a city-wide compendium.

This initiative is a core component of the Teachers’ Training pillar of PTC-CSJ’s flagship Growing Good to Great Kids (3G) program, which has been supporting Muntinlupa’s education sector since 2011.
