The PTC-CSJ Foundation, as part of its commitment to help improve basic education outcomes, supported the Department of Education’s National Learning Camp (NLC) implemented from July 1 – 19, 2024. The NLC 2024 is part of DepEd’s National Learning Recovery Program designed to address the learning crisis and support teachers in the recovery process.

Implemented in public elementary schools nationwide during the school break, the NLC provides targeted interventions for learners in Reading and Math. Through its Growing Good to Great Kids (3G) Program, the Foundation integrated its annual Reading Camp into NLC 2024 by providing lunch to 1,466 Grades 2 and 3 learners across 12 partner schools in Muntinlupa City.

Mrs. Jennifer Joson, Principal of Sucat Elementary School – Main, noted a significant increase in attendance because students looked forward to the free lunch. This sentiment was echoed by all 12 schools, as studies show that in-school feeding directly improves classroom participation and learning outcomes.

Student Feeding Program

1,466 learners benefited from the lunch feeding program during the three-week camp.

Ms. Diane Piano, an NLC teacher at Cupang Elementary School – Main, shared encouraging results from post-tests, where students showed dramatic improvements in four-digit addition. She attributed this success to the focused, one-on-one teaching made possible by the NLC's 1:10 teacher-student ratio.
