Learning about Shipping and Maritime through PTC-CSJ’s My Ship, My World

Tunasan National High School Orientation

More than 1,700 Grades 9 and 10 learners of Tunasan National High School participated in the orientation.

On September 29, 2023, the PTC-CSJ Foundation's My Ship, My World (MSMW) Project introduced the world of shipping to more than 1,700 Grades 9 and 10 learners of Tunasan National High School (TNHS) in Muntinlupa City.

The back-to-back sessions aimed to provide students with a deeper understanding of how the maritime industry impacts everyday life. The program included videos showcasing global shipping benefits and the daily life of a Ship Captain, followed by an engaging session with a seasoned maritime professional.

Chief Engineer Eric Edgardo Bautista, PHILCAMSAT’s Competence Development Manager, served as the resource person. He shared insights from his eight years onboard and seven years in a land-based maritime career, answering questions about the challenges and rewards of being a Global Maritime Professional (GMP).

Mrs. Madeline Ann Diaz, DepEd-Muntinlupa’s Chief Education Supervisor, noted that the orientation was timely for students preparing to choose their senior high school tracks. The session concluded with students presenting posters in honor of National Seafarer’s Day and World Maritime Day.

Ms. Flory Tabio, Executive Director of PTC-CSJ, also highlighted the success of TNHS graduate Michael Angelo Garbin, who is now a BS Marine Transportation scholar at Mapua-PTC College of Maritime Education and Training.
