The PTC-CSJ Foundation, supported by a grant from the TK Foundation, recently welcomed six new scholars. All beneficiaries are sophomore students at Malayan Colleges Laguna (MCL)’s Mapua-PTC College of Maritime Education and Training (CMET).
The new cadet-scholars represent two core maritime disciplines:
- BS Marine Transportation: Jonnar P. Mina, Juan Patricio V. Castillo, and Hanna Claire N. Samiano.
- BS Marine Engineering: Melbert Jim M. Arreo, Justin S. Caliguia, and Mark Jeff M. Fenol.
During the orientation and MOA signing, PTC-CSJ Foundation President Mrs. Carla S. Limcaoco encouraged the students to maintain focus on their goals despite the inevitable challenges of their studies. The scholarship covers the Cadets’ second to fourth year at MCL-CMET, contingent on maintaining grade and behavioral requirements.
The partnership highlights the collaboration between MCL and Philippine Transmarine Carriers Inc. (PTC) through CMET, which provides a solid, skills-based seafaring curriculum. Since its inception in 2002, the TK Foundation has focused on grants that improve the maritime realm and the lives of disadvantaged youth. This specific program is administered by the Orange County Community Foundation based in the US.
