PTC-CSJ Foundation concluded School Year 2015-2016 with significant milestones achieved through its flagship Growing Good to Great Kids (3G) Program. Implemented in Bayanan Elementary School-Main (BESM) and Lakeview Elementary School (LES), the program continues to focus on nutrition, literacy, sports, and stakeholder training.
A major highlight of the year was the success of the nutrition enhancement component. A total of 495 wasted and severely wasted pupils from Kinder to Grade 2 were provided with nutritious lunches every school day. By the end of the school year, 100% of these beneficiaries reached normal nutritional status, surpassing Department of Education standards.
Daily nutritious meals have led to a 100% success rate in reaching normal nutritional status.
Interactive storytelling remains a key tool in fostering a love for reading among pupils.
In the area of learning enrichment, the Foundation piloted a 15-day Reading Camp from April 11-29, 2016. This initiative expanded to include Sucat Elementary School-Main (SESM), benefiting 274 slow and non-readers from Kinder to Grade 3 across the three partner-schools. The camp combined remedial reading with summer feeding to provide holistic support during the break.
To ensure the quality of instruction, 76 teachers from the partner-schools underwent intensive training in March to enhance their literacy teaching skills. This professional development ensures that the benefits of the 3G Program are sustained in the classroom long after the specialized sessions conclude.
