PTC-CSJ Foundation, in partnership with Synergeia Foundation, has successfully completed the pilot implementation of the Reading Camp across its three partner-schools in Muntinlupa: Bayanan Elementary School-Main (BESM), Lakeview Elementary School (LES), and Sucat Elementary School-Main (SESM).
Implemented for 15 days in April 2016, the Reading Camp is a two-pronged initiative focusing on remedial reading and nutritional feeding. The pilot program benefitted 280 slow and non-readers from Kinder to Grade 3. Prior to implementation, 76 teachers underwent specialized training led by noted educator Prof. Shirley Equipado to master the 15-day curriculum modules.
Measuring Growth: Students participating in assessments to track literacy progress.
Creative Engagement: Hands-on activities help foster a love for learning.
The program yielded impressive results, with average test scores increasing from 66.71 to 89.77, demonstrating student mastery across seven core literacy skills. In recognition of their effort, all participants and volunteer teachers were rewarded with award-winning Adarna story books.
Adding to the program's success, Bayanan Elementary School-Main was officially recognized by the Department of Education as the Best Implementer for Reading Camp 2016 for both Muntinlupa City and the National Capital Region (NCR).
