The Bayanan Minors team celebrates their second-place finish at the Southern Classic Tournament.

Last September, Bayanan’s Minors team (9-10 years old) delivered an outstanding performance at the Southern Classic Tournament, securing second place after beating competitive teams from Smokey Mountain, Southridge, and Ateneo. Under the leadership of Coach Gil Encarnado, the team fought hard towards the championship round.

The Southern Classic is an annual tournament organized by the Junior Baseball Softball Foundation of the Philippines (JBSFP) and the Alabang Baseball and Softball Club (ABSC). The event draws various school teams from across Metro Manila and Southern Luzon, showcasing the region's young athletic talent.

The team showed significant improvement this year, jumping from fourth place in 2012 to second place in 2013.

The PTC-CSJ Foundation, in partnership with JBSFP, currently supports four baseball teams in Bayanan, including three coach-pitch teams (6-8 years old) and one minors team. Beyond the field, the program uniquely integrates academic support by conducting math tutorials that utilize baseball statistics during Saturday practice sessions.

This sports development initiative is a key pillar of the Foundation’s Growing Good to Great Kids (3G) Program, which is now in its third year of implementation at Bayanan Elementary School-Main. The program aims to foster discipline, teamwork, and academic excellence through the spirit of sport.
